Felt Ball Rug

yes i made this.  it took me forever and also it isnt cheap. i wonder if it is cheaper to just buy the rug online.  mine only came out to 19inches or 48cm.  not big.  i think i want to add to it.  i made all the felt balls.  i needle felted them and then i threw them in the wash to round them out.  when i went to sew them altogether, i realized that it was a problem that they were not all the same size.  and i had randomly started to sew but then it didnt lay flat. so i took it apart and redid it.  the balls are first sewn into one long string.  and then i sewed radially and it turned out pretty well.

Avery's Red Egg Ginger Bath Bombs

For a friend's baby's red egg and ginger party, we made ginger bath bombs.  we used this recipe and pressed them into chocolate egg molds.  we then put them into chocolate baggies and printed stickers.

Ingredients:
8 oz Corn starch
4 oz Baking soda
4 oz Citric acid
3 oz Cocoa butter , softened (you can also use pure shea butter here instead, which has a much milder scent — the cocoa butter smells like chocolate)
2-3 T sweet almond oil
2-3 T coconut oil
1/2 small bottle of rose essential oil; you can use any essential oils you love
soap dye

1. Combine all of the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
2. Add the liquid ingredients and oils, then using your hands, press the mixture together until is has the consistently you like. You can also get creative here and add essential oil combinations, or even dried herbs, like lavender.
3. To make red eggs, i used a red soap dye
4. Press the mixture into molds -we used egg chocolate molds.  we stuck them in the freezer for 5 minutes and they were hard enough to remove and bag

Body Lotion

After using 100%pure body cream i was inspired to make my own lotion.  I saw this recipe and thought id give it a go.  instead of putting in the blender, i used my stand mixer.  my blender was dirty and i was too lazy to clean it.  it seemed to emulsify and blend ok but there was still leftover rose water that was not incorporating.  so i decided to clean the blender and then put the mixture in, hoping it would incorporate.  but it got worse...  i took it and put it into the jar anyways.

3/4 cup almond oil
1 cup rose water
2 tablespoons beeswax
30 drop essential oil

How to make the lotion:

Pour the oil into a Pyrex measuring cup and add the shaved beeswax. Set it in a saucepan of water that reaches about halfway up the side of the Pyrex container. Heat over the stove until the beeswax dissolves and remove from the stove immediately. Allow to cool for a minute or two but not longer than that since the beeswax will begin to harden.

Pour the water into your blender and begin blending it on high speed with the lid on (with a hole left in the lid for pouring the beeswax-oil mixture). Slowly pour the oil-beeswax mixture into the water. It will begin to emulsify as you continue pouring the oil. It normally begins to thicken after about three-quarters of the oil has been incorporated. Continue adding the oil until you’ve incorporated all of it into the water.

Add the drops of essential oils you’ve selected. Blend them into the lotion.

Pour the lotion into the glass jars you’ve selected for storing the cream. Use the spatula to remove any remaining lotion from the blender.

The lotion lasts for about six months and is best kept at cool temperatures to prolong shelf life. You can store it in the fridge if you choose to keep it fresh.
